KCND-TV Channel 12

Boyd Christenson. Dick Vincent. Richard Andrews. What do all these people have in common? They worked as announcers and newscasters at KCND-TV Channel 12 Pembina.

I came across a new Wikipedia entry on KCND today, and they had the old logos included. Boy, did THAT bring back memories!

    Yes
I recall the day KCND went on the air and the day it went off.
Although Pembina lost a small local station CKDN became the first station of what was later to become CanWEst Global Media. This company has expanded world wide. An is a major media player in the world.

Oh yes I rememeber all the announcers but you forgot to mention my favorite Bo West.

  2. Does anyone have any communication with Dick Vincent of KCND and CKND tv? Does anyone have an email address that I can email him?

I'm also looking for KCND-TV audio & video files either online or on physical DVD, VHS or tape.

    Thanks - ROB

  3. Rob, your best bet is to look through the video's at RetroWinnipeg's YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/RetroWinnipeg - you can also contact him directly there with questions. If he doesn't know himself, he might know someone who does...good luck, and if you find anything, I would LOVE to know - please contact me, ok? Thanks, and again, good luck!

  4. Hello Trish and thanks for your reply. I have been at the site you suggested and could not locate an email address or blog comment section. I saw the following whereas the website was invisible, and when I clicked on /PhychoJason I see a YouTube videos channels page:

    Website: /PsychoJason

    Thanks - Rob.

  5. I contacted RetroWinnipeg once via YouTube and Jason told me this, but I was never able to find out much, but it's all I have and all he had:

What I will suggest for you is to check out the CKND 30th anniversary special on my channel for some limited footage of KCND (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7iXGspAV7Q), and The View from Seven (http://theviewfromseven.wordpress.com/) for some old ads and other information.

Hopefully this will help you out in your research. Thanks for stopping by...

  6. Awhile ago, I was in contact with someone who used to work at KCND and he said he had some videotape of KCND material. However, unfortunately I believe he passed away within the last few years. William Jack Moelker was his name. I only discovered his name about 10 years ago while searching for KCND stuff. We exchanged emails, but eventually there was no more communication. Does anyone remember him, and if he was also involved with trains?

  7. Looking Moelker's name up via Google brought up a blog post by a guy who claims to have known him at the time of his death - maybe contact him to see if he knows Moelker's family you can contact? See http://jeremyonjq99.blogspot.com/2006/07/day-that-changed-my-life.html

  8. Hello Trish, I sent a blog comment to Jeremy the other day but have not heard from him yet. Then today I noticed his last blog comment from himself was on July 24, 2006!

Guess he doesn't usually go his page that often, unless he has had made comments and replied to me but I can't see them.

    Rob.

  9. You might be interested to know that something has finally surfaced: a March 1974 audio recording of what sounds like a station ident, followed by a public service announcement for a hospital fundraiser in Langdon.

It has been uploaded to YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiFRImfb3S8

To date, it's the only known surviving KCND-TV recording. Hopefully more will surface.

Come to think of it, that station ident jingle would make an interesting ringtone...
